Count useful pages, not empty pages

A five-page website can work well for a focused business: home, services, about, a useful information page and contact. The best structure depends on what customers need to understand, rather than a template page count.

Ask whether guides and location pages are part of the allowance. At HELIX they are. Standard privacy and terms pages sit outside the package’s marketing-page allowance, using information and policies you approve.

Check who writes the words

A design can look finished while the content is still missing. Ask whether the price includes copywriting, editing your draft or simply placing text that you supply.

Our assisted copywriting turns your brief, service information and approved examples into website copy. You supply the underlying facts and review claims. Specialist legal, medical or regulated material needs the appropriate expert input.

Make search work concrete

“SEO included” should mean named deliverables. Look for sensible page titles, descriptions, headings, internal links, a sitemap, crawlability checks and appropriate structured data. Content should explain the service clearly.

More complex research, original guide production and ongoing improvements take additional work. Our Grow and Scale packages add depth, while the Launch package includes the essential foundations.

Test the actual next step

Try the enquiry or booking process on a small screen. Check the required fields, labels, confirmation wording and what happens if something fails. Ask who receives an enquiry and who is responsible for following it up.

If the site links to an existing booking tool, confirm the subscription remains your responsibility. If a custom integration is required, it should be described in the quote.

Ask about ownership and running costs

You should know who owns the domain, where the website is hosted and how to get your files. Ask for a list of recurring costs before agreeing to the build.

HELIX’s optional Care plan is £39 per month. Domains, paid booking tools, API usage and other subscriptions are separate. The one-time build price does not include an unlimited ongoing content service.

Agree revisions, delivery and aftercare

A revision round is a consolidated set of changes against the agreed brief. A new service, a new booking system or a complete change in direction is different work and should be quoted clearly.

Launch includes two revision rounds, a target of two to three weeks after the approved brief and assets, and 30-day defect support. Your final quote sets the scope, schedule, applicable tax and payment terms.
